WAR is an American funk band from Long Beach, California, known for hits like "Low Rider" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?". Their sound blends groovy funk with jazzy keyboard lines. "Spill the Wine" reached the Top 3 on the Hot 100, and No. 1 R&B albums included "The World is a Ghetto" (1972) and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" (1975). Live sets are fun-loving affairs led by founding member Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan.
