The Whispers are an R&B and soul vocal group formed in 1963 in the Watts district of Los Angeles, built around identical twins Walter and Wallace Scott. Their harmony-led sound moves between smooth slow jams and uptempo disco. They topped the R&B chart with "And the Beat Goes On" in 1979 and "Rock Steady" in 1987, scored 15 top ten R&B singles, and entered the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.
