Metric is a Canadian indie rock band formed in Toronto in 1998, led by singer Emily Haines and guitarist James Shaw. Their music mixes new wave synths, post-punk drive, and art-pop hooks built around Haines's vocals. "Fantasies" (2009) and "Synthetica" (2012) each won Juno Awards for Alternative Album of the Year. Live shows highlight the four-piece's electronic-rock blend on festival and arena stages.
