HammerFall is a Swedish power metal band formed in Gothenburg in 1993 by guitarist Oscar Dronjak. Joacim Cans has fronted the group since its early years, and the band has held to the same traditional heavy metal style across its career. Its 1997 debut "Glory to the Brave" introduced the paladin mascot Hector, who has appeared on most sleeves since, up to "Avenge the Fallen" (2024).
