The Barr Brothers

About the concert

The Barr Brothers are a group out of Montreal fronted by the poly-rhythmic, jocular drumming of Andrew Barr and the songs and guitar playing of brother Brad Barr. Bass, pedal steel, keyboards, and horns come in and out of the mix freely. Equally at home in solemn Arcadian ballads, swampy North African improvs, or classic rock and roll revelry, The Barr Brothers continue to embrace and enchant audiences with their methodical-yet-whimsical approach to music making. A prodigal young talent, SOAK began their musical journey aged 14 when they first wrote breakout track 'Sea Creatures', cutting their teeth and cultivating a passionate following from their home of Derry. Taking their time to develop their craft and complete school, Bridie signed to Rough Trade and released their beautiful debut album, Before We Got How To Dream', in 2015. One of the Mercury Prize's youngest ever nominees, the record also won the prestigious Choice Music Prize for Album of the Year, the Northern Irish Music Prize, saw SOAK shortlisted for a Q Award ('Best New Act'), as well as taking home the European Border Breaker Award. With support ranging from the BBC Sound Poll and Jools Holland to playlist support across Radio 1 and 6Music, all these extreme experiences have taken SOAK far beyond (but often right back to) their close-knit Northern Irish scene.
