The Pine is an emocore band from Bakersfield, California, formed in 1998 by Roger and Kurt King with early DIY seven-inches and LPs on small labels. Their sound follows emotional hardcore in the vein of Evergreen and The Hated, with confessional vocals and sparse punk arrangements. Self-titled releases in 2001 and "Lead Blocks for Feet" (2002) fueled U.S. and European tours, including a 2003 split with The Saddest Landscape. Shows were intense, friend-run DIY gigs built around long van tours.
