The Afghan Whigs are an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in 1986 around singer Greg Dulli and bassist John Curley. Their records fuse alternative rock with R&B and soul, from garage punk to slow psychedelic burn. The 1993 Elektra album "Gentlemen" was their mainstream breakthrough before they split in 2001 and later reunited. Live sets highlight Dulli's volcanic vocals and tight soul-rock interplay.
