Spyro Gyra is an American jazz fusion band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1974 by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein. Their sound blends jazz with R&B, funk and pop. The albums "Morning Dance" (1979) and "Catching the Sun" (1980) both went gold, and Billboard ranked them the most successful jazz act of the 1980s. The band marked its 50th anniversary in 2024.
