Queensrÿche is a progressive metal band formed in Bellevue, Washington, in the early 1980s. Their music blends post-Van Halen guitar heroics with 1970s art rock. The concept album "Operation: Mindcrime" (1988) is counted among heavy metal's greatest, and "Empire" (1990) sold over three million copies in the US. Since 2012 the band has been fronted by Todd La Torre, who replaced original singer Geoff Tate.
