Protest the Hero is a progressive metal band formed in Whitby, Ontario, in 1999. Their music pairs technical precision with sharp, irreverent lyricism and draws on mathcore, metalcore and skate punk. The band crowdfunded "Volition" (2013), which won the 2014 Juno Award for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year, and followed it with "Palimpsest" (2020) and "Within" (2026).
