Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a South African male choral group from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, singing isicathamiya and mbube. Their close-harmony vocals draw on Zulu choral traditions in songs of faith, community, and celebration. Formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960, they rose internationally through Paul Simon's "Graceland" (1986) and have won five Grammy Awards. Live performances are known for gently synchronized isicathamiya steps that preserve South African cultural heritage.
