Jay and the Americans are an American vocal group formed in the 1960s, known for keeping doo-wop harmonies current in the pop era. Frontman Jay Black's operatic voice powered romantic hits rooted in dramatic storytelling. They charted nineteen times, with Come a Little Bit Closer (1964), Cara Mia, and This Magic Moment among their signature singles. Live shows mix those hits with stories about Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond, and the group's sixties touring history.
