Jason Marsalis

Jason Marsalis is a New Orleans jazz drummer, vibraphonist, and composer, the youngest son of pianist Ellis Marsalis and a member of the famed Marsalis family. His work spans post-bop and modern jazz, pairing graceful swing on drums with melodic exploration on mallets. He made his leader debut with "The Year of the Drummer" (1998), co-founded Los Hombres Calientes, and led the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet on "In a World of Mallets" (2013). His live sets balance crackling intensity with adventurous group improvisation.
