Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Ripley, Surrey. He plays blues-based rock through sustained guitar improvisations, from Cream power-trio psychedelia to unplugged ballads. After the Yardbirds and Derek and the Dominos, hits include "Layla" and "Tears in Heaven"; Slowhand (1977) anchored his solo years. Live shows focus on extended blues guitar solos across his catalog.
