Devo is an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, built around the brothers Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh and Gerald and Bob Casale. Their synth-driven art rock grew out of "de-evolution", a satirical theory that humanity is regressing. Their debut "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!" (1978) was followed by "Freedom of Choice" (1980), home of their Top 40 hit "Whip It" and the red energy dome hats.
