Altan

Altan is an Irish traditional music band formed in 1987 in Gweedore, County Donegal, by singer and fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Frankie Kennedy. The band draws on Donegal's fiddle tradition and Irish-language songs. In 1994 they became one of the first traditional Irish groups signed to a major label, Virgin Records, and their albums run from "Horse with a Heart" (1989) to "Donegal" (2024).
