Alcest is a French post-black metal band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze, founded in 2000 by Neige (Stéphane Paut). Their sound fuses black metal with shoegaze and post-metal into the style known as blackgaze. The 2005 EP "Le Secret" is widely cited as pioneering the genre; albums include "Kodama" (2016) and "Les Chants de L'Aurore" (2024). Live sets build atmospheric, melodic metal around Neige's immersive, dreamlike vision.
