The Pat Malone Quartet returns to UNIT B for a fabulous evening of elegant improvisational jazz with a blues heart. Featuring pianist Kevin Zoernig , the deep grooves of Jon Gagan on bass , the dynamic rhythms of Arnaldo Acosta on drums , and Pat Malone on guitar and vocals , this will be an evening of captivating, heartfelt music that moves the soul. Don’t miss this unforgettable live performance! Pat Malone performs with professionalism, versatility and pure energy that captivates and inspires his audiences. Pat has a devoted following in Chicago, Austin and Santa Fe from his live performances, and is a favorite in the studio. Throughout his career, Malone has played with many outstanding musicians, including Pete Christlieb of Steely Dan and Doc Severenson, Bobby Doyle of Blood, Sweat & Tears, Bill Ginn (Famous Blue Raincoat Leonard Cohen, Jennifer Warren), Eric Johnson, Lonnie Mack, Kim Stone (Spyra Gyra), Mitch Watkins, Spencer Starnes, Peter Rowan, John Mills, Junior Brown, Mike Turk, Jimmy Carl Black of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, and Kirk Waylum. A disciplined student of music since the age of 9, Pat Malone has studied under an impressive list of great teachers. He completed master classes with Jack Cecchini in Chicago, through whom he conducted workshops with many guitarists including Joe Pass and Joe Diorio. Pat Malone resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kevin Zoernig is a prominent Santa Fe-based musician, composer, producer, and educator, known for his work in contemporary jazz and world music, founding the Contemporary Music Program at the College of Santa Fe (now United World College of the American West), teaching piano, and leading/playing in various bands, with albums like "Blue Z" and collaborations with artists like bassist David Friesen. He's a pianist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist deeply rooted in the Santa Fe music scene, balancing performance with his teaching and recording. Jon Gagan - bass (Ottmar Liebert, Dave Grusin, Christopher Cross, Milt Jackson) Known for his 30+ year association with renowned guitarist Ottmar Liebert, playing bass on over 30 Liebert albums, including RIAA certified gold and platinum and Grammy-nominated titles. Jon has also written numerous string and horn arrangements and scored a full-length string orchestra concert for Liebert. Gagan has performed with Milt Jackson, Eddie Harris, Dave Grusin, Christopher Cross, Big Al Anderson, Nat Adderley, Emily Remler and Warren Vaché, among many others. A prolific composer, Jon has also released a series of solo albums on Liebert's SSRI label, Transit 1-3. Among other side projects are "What The What" (2015) "Electric" (2018), and Still Life (2024). Recent recording work includes bass tracks featured on “Santa Fe Style” by Spanish virtuoso guitarist/singer Juan Jose Alba and “Alone” by the sister duo Carly and Martina. Arnaldo Acosta Originally from the Dominican Republic, has performed with many great jazz and Latin artists including Al Dimeola, Lorenzo Antonio, Sparx, Dimi DiSanti, Café Mocha and Felix Peralta.
