About the concert
Spend an unforgettable evening exploring blues, R&B, and soul through a modern lens with Michael Matison, one of New Mexico’s most soulful and engaging vocalists. Known for his powerful yet rich voice and natural stage presence, Michael creates a concert experience built on emotion, storytelling, and a genuine connection with the audience. Throughout the evening, Michael will honor the legendary voices of blues, soul, and R&B while bringing his own interpretation to the music. The show will draw from icons such as B.B. King, Otis Redding, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Sam Cooke, and Sam & Dave, along with modern artists including Marcus King, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Allen Stone, Leon Bridges and Gary Clark Jr. From slow-burning blues and heartfelt soul ballads to classic R&B, roots rock, Americana, and upbeat crowd favorites, every song reflects a deep respect for the artists who helped shape American music. Joining Michael is Santa Fe’s own Tiho Dimitrov, an accomplished guitarist, singer-songwriter, and composer. Following the release of his album Sleepless Nights , Tiho continues to gain recognition for his inventive musicianship and genre-blending style. Drawing from jazz, blues, world music, and contemporary influences, he brings creativity, range, and spontaneity to the stage. Brant Leeper, a touring blues veteran, adds soulful keyboard work and a strong musical presence. Known throughout New Mexico and beyond, Brant blends blues, funk, and R&B with tasteful improvisation and a sharp instinct for serving the song. Leeper has toured world renowned artists such as with Coco Montoya and W.C. Clark. The rhythm section features Artha Meadors on bass and Mark Clark on drums. Artha, one of New Mexico’s premier bassists, brings decades of experience, a deep pocket, and steady musical command. Mark is one of the state’s most respected drummers, recognized for his precision, versatility, and ability to drive the music without overpowering it. Clark is also a singer-songwriter and composer. On rhythm guitar, Jim Casey completes the lineup with expressive phrasing, thoughtful improvisation, and a strong command of blues, roots music, rock, and Americana. Casey spent four decades as the lead guitarist for the Texas based touring group The Buster Brown Band. Together, these artists blend the timeless sounds of blues, soul, and R&B with a fresh, modern edge they call Future Soul !
