FETISH ATTIRE MANDATORY
PORNCEPTUAL returns for a full-venue takeover. The Berlin party is positioned at the vanguard of modern clubbing, pushing a radical liberation that extends across forms - music, art, writing and more. Longtime resident The Lady Machine leads the night. As both a producer and a DJ, The Lady Machine matches the party’s ethos perfectly; her expertly-crafted works trade in a mixture of intense, gritty weight and kinetic, nimble movement. EPs on Mote Evolver, Token, Ben Sims’ Symbolism and her own Unterwegs all evince a steely power that finds its strength in controlled chaos. Huamaniser makes her debut. The Spanish-born, Berlin-based artist has built close ties with the Perceptual crew, bringing her taut, feverish style to many of their key events over the past two years. KONZ also makes her debut. A key member of Berlin’s new school, KONZ steers the ship into the darkest waters. Her sets are pure shadow work, replete with inky textures and haunting reverberations. BASEMENT resident LYDO completes the night, as only he can. One of NY’s most dynamic and accomplished artists working today, LYDO’s worldbuilding - both inside his sets and beyond - is both expansive and deeply personal.
PORNCEPTUAL resident Curses returns, again to headlining STUDIO as part of their program. A self-described leader of the “next wave acid punx,” Curses goes all in on pumping, dark synthwave of the highest order. On his most recent “Crown Of Ruin,” he evokes the legacy of landmark artists like Ministry, Revolting Cocks and Front Line Assembly while adding a dash of pure gothic romance for good measure. Kim Ann Foxman returns to the room. One of NY’s great house music dreamers, Foxman straddles the line between dreamy euphoria and acid-drenched jacking house. Her extensive CV is about as impressive as you can get; Foxman has a knack for finding vital collaborators and new nodes of creativity at every turn. Now more than two decades into a storied career, she remains vital and ever-evolving. Shaun J. Wright is one of house music’s definitive vocalists in the 21st century. Like Foxman, he has put in time collaborating with Hercules and Love Affair. But Wright’s legacy is most clearly seen in his solo work and Twirl label & party series, in collaboration with Alinka. Born in Chicago, Wright is the heir to a profound lineage queer vocalist / producer / DJs who mix the joyful and the radical, the diva-esque and the confronting in equal measure.
