Process Club Night - Powder, Nico Tobón

Returning to Process for the second time, we are excited to welcome one of the most singular voices in contemporary club music. Powder is a musical alchemist of the highest order. Her sets are hard to classify, as they tend to transcend many of the expectations and norms of a modern dance club experience. A fearless storyteller and adventurer behind the decks, you can always count on Powder to take you to a special place.

Joining us for the night, we also have Nico Tobón from Denver, CO. Nico is the founder of the word-of-mouth event series Con Amor as well as a dj for the long running vinyl focused Weird Touch party series and resident at esp hifi in Denver. He brings a refined, low-slung approach to the floor — drawing from dub, left-field, downtempo, house and techno with an ear for subtle momentum. His selections prioritize groove and atmosphere, building trust slowly and rewarding deep listening.

More about Powder (bio from RVNG International profile)

Powder is an alchemist of time. Her ceremonious DJ sets invite listeners and dancers to extend their imaginations to abstracted spaces, while allowing the body to vessel the voyage in free, flowing style. Playful, thoughtful, and natural without knowing, Powder’s crates encourage abandonment of arbitrary boundaries and expectations surrounding genre, movement, schedule, and societal convention to revel, spirited and harmonious, in the passage of time.

Momoko Goto relocated from her hometown of Nagasaki, Japan to Tokyo in 2011. This is where the story of Powder, as the international dance music community knows her, begins. While many workers across the world feel the pressure of artificially controlled measurements of time, Moko’s musical mission to transcend these weighty associations, to shed light on the positive possibilities of passing time, resonates far past her island’s shores. Experiencing the pleasure that comes from physical and emotional transformation. Creating and nurturing memories.
