About the concert
Venue: Putney Inn Field, 57 Putney Landing Rd, Putney $24 Advance / $28 Gate / Kids under 12 free Food from Saffron Restaurant Kotoko Brass delivers an electrifying, cross-cultural sound that bridges continents and traditions. Blending the intricate rhythms of Central Ghanaian drumming with the deep grooves of Caribbean bass and keys, and the exuberant punch of New Orleans-style horns, the band creates what has been called “propulsive, infectious party music.” Formed by brothers Ben and Brian Paulding, the group brings together master Ghanaian percussionists Attah Poku and Kwame Ofori alongside a powerhouse rhythm and horn section. The result is a dynamic ensemble where every musician plays a vital role—but where the heartbeat of the music lies in the drums. Rooted in the Asante tradition, where rhythm and dance are inseparable, their performances invite audiences to feel the music as much as hear it. With a growing reputation across New England, Kotoko Brass has built a following through high-energy shows that get crowds moving. Their music is more than performance—it’s a celebration of heritage, collaboration, and connection. Drawing from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the band transforms tradition into something vibrant, modern, and deeply communal. This performance is sponsored in part by The Richards Group.
