They Say Hunger Is The Best Spice: A Cultural Sound Collage by Gulley

"They Say Hunger is The Best Spice" is a cultural sound collage curated and manifested by Detroit’s own Gulley along with some of the finest musical talents in the city. Inspired by Gulley’s contemporaries in the jazz space and informed by jam sessions with close friend and collaborator Shigeto, the performance will flow between improvisation and planned pieces that feed off of the specific talents and creative instincts of each participant.

Gulley will be on the MPC as he is joined by Shigeto on drums, Dez Andrés on conga, Stephen Grady Jr. on saxophone, and Brian Castillo on bass guitar. Supporters can expect an intimate, intentional, and exciting exploration of sound that could only be possible in the city of Detroit.
