Born and Raised: Hometown Tribute to John Mayer

Born and Raised is a John Mayer tribute band hailing from Mayer’s hometown of Fairfield, CT. The people there have a unique affection for the modern-era guitar hero who once roamed the same streets, and Born and Raised makes this apparent in their performances of his music. From his early acoustic pop, to his blues-heavy trio recordings, to the more recent Sob Rock era, this band is deeply committed to capturing the spirit of a live John Mayer concert with authentic renditions of his iconic songs. In 2018, Born and Raised frontman Billy Ruegger was a recently converted John Mayer fan living in Connecticut. Born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield like Mayer, these parallels deepened Billy’s interest in his story and connection to his music. As he started incorporating more John Mayer covers into his solo acoustic performances, Billy recognized that much of the local community felt a strong personal connection to him and his music as well. The idea of getting a band together to perform his material live was exciting, and Billy knew he was in the perfect area to do it. He formed a John Mayer tribute project that year with their debut performance being a sold out show at The Acoustic in Bridgeport, a venue that Mayer himself played in his younger years. Eight years later, with a wealth of experience under his belt playing the music of John Mayer, his live tribute project continues under the name Born and Raised. The name reflects what is special about this group- it was formed in the same community that Mayer was brought up in. Their shows have evolved to feature a host of guest performers throughout the evening as well, giving the spotlight to a handful of other local musicians who have also been inspired by his music. $25 Advance GA, $30 Day of GA (+ online ticketing fees) Get your tickets early - this show has SOLD OUT in the past!
