Zapp is a funk band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in 1977 by the Troutman brothers Roger, Larry, Lester and Terry. Built around Roger Troutman's trademark talk box, their electro-funk sound influenced West Coast hip-hop and G-funk. The gold-certified "Zapp" (1980) gave them "More Bounce to the Ounce", and "Dancefloor" from "Zapp II" (1982) topped the R&B singles chart.
