William Basinski is an American avant-garde composer based in Los Angeles. Using obsolete technology and decaying analogue tape loops, he builds haunting ambient drones that explore memory and time. His 2002 to 2003 series "The Disintegration Loops" is regarded as a landmark of ambient music. Live, he presents those slowly unfolding soundscapes to sold-out audiences worldwide.
