WHEE3TRIO

WHEE3TRIO is drummer Andy Wheelock's jazz project with bassist Gonzalo Teppa and pianist Walter Gorra, drawing on Afro-Latin and West African ideas. Wheelock composed on the Ghanaian gyil, a pentatonic wooden xylophone, shaping sweeping landscapes and intricate dance rhythms. Their debut album "In the Wheelhouse" arrived in 2024 on OA2 Records, with guest guitarist Gilad Hekselman. Live sets mix melodic joy, Afro Pop-tinged street party grooves, and rhythmic surprises.
