The Steely Damned is a San Diego Steely Dan tribute led by guitarist Hank Easton, performing as a large jazz-rock ensemble rather than a two-piece lookalike act. The band recreates Donald Fagen and Walter Becker's meticulous arrangements with layered vocals, horns, and note-for-note guitar solos. Easton has led the project since it began in 1992. Seated concerts highlight the group's focus on faithful musicianship over costume tribute theatrics.
