The Chicks are an American country band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 1989 as the Dixie Chicks. Martie Maguire's fiddle and Emily Strayer's banjo give the trio its bluegrass grounding, while Natalie Maines sings lead. Winners of 13 Grammy Awards, they released "Wide Open Spaces" (1998) and "Fly" (1999), then "Taking the Long Way" (2006) after Maines criticised President George W. Bush from a London stage in 2003.
