Stone Temple Pilots are an American rock band formed in San Diego in 1989 around singer Scott Weiland and the DeLeo brothers. Their sound joins 1990s alternative rock and grunge with 1970s hard rock and psychedelia. "Core" (1992) broke them through, "Purple" (1994) entered the US album chart at number one, and they won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1994. Jeff Gutt has fronted the band since 2017.
