Rose Royce is an American soul and funk band formed in Los Angeles in 1973 by musicians from backup bands in Watts and Inglewood. Produced by Norman Whitfield, they blended soul, R&B and disco, with Gwen Dickey among the original singers. Their soundtrack to the film "Car Wash" (1976) won a Grammy, and its title song reached number one on the Billboard pop chart. Later hits include "Love Don't Live Here Anymore".
