Papa Mali in New Orleans

Papa Mali is the stage name of Malcolm Welbourne, an American guitarist, singer and producer based in New Orleans. His music blends swamp blues, funk, soul and reggae, a mix shaped by a 1977 trip to Jamaica. He co-founded the reggae band The Killer Bees in 1980, released the solo album "Thunder Chicken" in 2000, and in 2009 formed 7 Walkers with Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and George Porter Jr.
