Michelle Shocked

Michelle Shocked is an American alternative-folk singer-songwriter from Dallas, Texas, raised in Gilmer. Her songs blend folk storytelling with road life shaped by punk scenes and activism. Pete Lawrence's 1986 Kerrville recording became "The Texas Campfire Tapes," and "Short Sharp Shocked" (1988) earned CMJ Folk Album of the Year. Live she favors intimate rooms where wit and independence define every set.
