Messer Chups is a surf rock band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, formed in 1998 by guitarist and composer Oleg Fomchenkov. Their sound blends surf rock, vintage Russian melodies, lounge loops, and samples from historical recordings and mid-century film soundtracks. Fomchenkov had previously performed in Messer für Frau Müller and cites Link Wray and the Ventures among his influences. Live shows pair garage-punk intensity with projections of cult horror and sci-fi film clips.
