Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2000. Their music blends progressive, sludge and stoner metal, and early albums were built around concepts, with "Leviathan" (2004) reworking Moby-Dick and "Crack the Skye" (2009) exploring astral projection. The song "Sultan's Curse" won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2018. The band has played festivals such as Download, Roskilde and Bonnaroo.
