Lyrics Born

Lyrics Born is the stage name of Tokyo-born, Berkeley-raised Japanese-American rapper and producer Tsutomu Shimura, a co-founder of Quannum Projects. His music blends alternative hip-hop with funk and soul in a distinctive baritone. He is one half of Latyrx; "The Album" (1997) preceded his solo set "Later That Day" (2003). He was among the first Asian-American MCs to play Coachella and Lollapalooza.
