Luna Negra is the band of Cologne-born, Santa Fe-based guitarist Ottmar Liebert, who founded its first incarnation in 1988. Its music is what Liebert calls Nouveau Flamenco, a style that drew criticism from flamenco traditionalists. The lineup has changed over the years, with bassist Jon Gagan the one constant since 1989. Liebert's 1990 debut "Nouveau Flamenco" went double platinum.
