Loudon Wainwright III is an American singer-songwriter born in 1946 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, working across folk, blues and comedy music. His songs use a witty, self-mocking style and often draw on his own life and family. His best-known song is the 1972 novelty hit "Dead Skunk", and "High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project" (2009) won the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album.
