Light Asylum is the electronic music project of singer Shannon Funchess, founded in Brooklyn in 2007 and later based in Portland, Oregon. The sound blends darkwave, synth-pop and post-punk with strong 1980s influences. The project released the EP "In Tension" (2010) and the album "Light Asylum" (2012), and Funchess has sung with The Knife and TV on the Radio.
