L7 is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, founded in 1985 by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. Its heavy, riff-driven punk with metal weight was later tied to grunge and riot grrrl, movements the band predated. "Bricks Are Heavy" (1992) gave them the hit "Pretend We're Dead", and in 1991 they founded the pro-choice benefit series Rock for Choice. After splitting in 2001 they reunited in 2014 and released "Scatter the Rats" (2019).
