Kathy Mattea is an American country and bluegrass singer from West Virginia. Her warm, story-driven songs draw on folk and Celtic roots alongside traditional country. She topped the country chart with "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses" from the 1987 album "Untasted Honey" and won Grammy Awards for "Where've You Been" in 1990 and the album "Good News" in 1993. Her concerts foreground narrative songwriting and her distinctive mountain-born vocal tone.
