John Cowan is an American vocalist and bassist known for progressive bluegrass. He was lead vocalist and bass player for New Grass Revival from 1974 until the band ended in 1989, the group's only member without a traditional bluegrass background. He later led the John Cowan Band and has long collaborated with fiddler Luke Bulla. Live duo sets pair New Grass Revival favorites with originals, rich harmony, and masterful picking.
