Jesse Saunders

Jesse Saunders is a Chicago DJ and producer widely regarded as a founding figure in house music. His tracks built on stripped drum and bass loops, repetition, and electronic percussion drawn from underground dance records. The 1984 single "On & On," co-written with Vince Lawrence, is among the first house records pressed and sold to the public. His sets at clubs such as The Playground helped define Chicago's early dance sound.
