Hugh Ragin

Hugh Ragin is an American jazz trumpeter from Houston known for avant-garde and post-bop improvisation. His Creative Orchestra blends bebop, free jazz, and collective improvisation through daring sound shapes and tonal colors. He toured with Maynard Ferguson, Sun Ra, Anthony Braxton, David Murray, and Art Ensemble of Chicago. His album "An Afternoon in Harlem" (1999) anchors a live sound built on rhythmic variation.
