H.R. is Paul D. Hudson, the lead vocalist of Washington, D.C. hardcore punk band Bad Brains and a pivotal figure in the genre. His vocals range from hardcore screams to reggae phrasing and melodic singing, and he also fronts the reggae project Human Rights. He helped pioneer the band's blend of punk, reggae, and hardcore from the late 1970s. Live sets draw on that cross-genre legacy with high-energy, physically charged performances.
