Grupo Niche is a Colombian salsa band founded in Cali in 1979 by Jairo Varela. Their sound blends salsa with Caribbean and African rhythms, driven by brass sections and romantic, danceable lyrics. Albums such as "Cali Pachanguero" (1984) helped define 1980s salsa romántica and cemented their international profile. Their concerts are known for long, high-energy sets of crowd favorites.
