Extreme is an American hard rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1985, built around vocalist Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Their records mix funk metal and glam metal with melodic hooks and Bettencourt's virtuoso guitar work. "Pornograffitti" (1990) brought them global hits with "More Than Words" and "Hole Hearted" topping the U.S. pop charts. Live shows balance shredding rockers with acoustic ballads and tight four-piece interplay.
