El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rican salsa orchestra founded in San Juan in May 1962 by pianist Rafael Ithier. Known as the University of Salsa, the group pairs horn-driven dance rhythms with unison vocals in a direct, cadenced Puerto Rican sound. Classic hits include Acangana, Ojos Chinos, El Menu, and No Hay Cama Pa Tanta Gente. Their live shows feature synchronized choreography and have filled stages worldwide for more than six decades.
