Down
metalheavy metal
Down is a New Orleans heavy metal supergroup formed in 1991, led by vocalist Phil Anselmo of Pantera. Their sound combines sludge metal, Southern metal, and stoner metal with Black Sabbath-style heaviness. The platinum-selling debut "NOLA" (1995) remains their landmark, followed by albums including "Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow" (2002). Live, the band delivers slow, crushing riffs and Anselmo's cathartic vocals.
