Dar Williams is an American folk-pop singer-songwriter from Mount Kisco, New York. Drawing on her background as a playwright, she writes character-driven songs with warm, observational lyrics rooted in modern life's speed and color. Albums such as "Mortal City" (1996) and "End of the Summer" (1997) built her reputation, with "Hummingbird Highway" (2025) on Righteous Babe Records marking her latest chapter. She is known for intimate live sets at folk festivals and for leading songwriting workshops that encourage songs to find their own path.
